Life Without Chronic Pain | How GYROTONIC® Can Help
Countless students that step foot into KineticMKE for a GYROTONIC® session have struggled with the persistent symptoms of chronic pain. Over the course of many years, they’ve tried endless styles of exercise with little to no success. GYROTONIC®, however, has produced noticeable results. Additionally, the GYROTONIC® movement is slow, intentional, and comfortable for those experiencing chronic pain.
In this month’s blog, we’ll share the many ways GYROTONIC® helps to manage your pain, expand your body beyond its perceived limitations or restrictions, and return your body to a dynamic state of health. As we explain to our students at KineticMKE, where there is restriction or compression, there is often pain and discomfort.
What Does Chronic Pain Look Like? What Causes It?
Despite years of research, chronic pain is still poorly understood. Chronic pain can be linked back to a specific injury, a serious infection - or it may have no known cause at all. However complicated it may be to understand the root of chronic pain, it has likely affected you or someone you know. One of the most common types of chronic pain is low-back pain, which affects 80% of Americans at some point in their life.
Or, perhaps a friend or relative has talked about arthritis, Fibromyalgia, nerve damage, or scoliosis. Amazingly, we have witnessed a transformation in students with these conditions since beginning the GYROTONIC® method.
How Does GYROTONIC® Help Ease Chronic Pain?
Our goal is to assist you in opening up the joints and the surrounding soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia) to help return the body to a dynamic state of health. We believe living in pain is a narrow existence, and the GYROTONIC® method allows you to return to a more natural state with full-dimensional movement. This type of movement increases function and improves quality of life, too.
Here are three types of pain current students are seeing an improvement in, thanks to the GYROTONIC® method:
Hip or Knee Replacement
GYROTONIC® restores optimal range of motion. It also creates balance, stability, and strength three-dimensionally around the joint.
The GYROTONIC® system provides both a gentle movement practice in addition to a gentle massage for connective tissues, organs, and nerves. This helps restore the natural flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Also important to note - these exercises help calm and regulate the nervous system.
We move from the spine outwards on the GYROTONIC® equipment (rather than from the periphery in), meaning we work the muscles that surround the spine to hold proper alignment. Also, these movements aim to balance out rotational patterns.
Additionally, we have students that are seeing incredible relief from spinal surgery, a herniated/degenerative disc, and rheumatoid arthritis.
GYROTONIC® - Versatile, Therapeutic, and Life-Changing
A success story we love to share is of co-owner, Trey Fry. Early on in his teaching career, it was Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle who helped him rehabilitate a back injury using the Pilates Method. Trey shares that the Pilates Method helped him manage his own scoliosis for years. However, it wasn’t until he began to practice GYROTONIC® that his patterns began to unravel effortlessly. Chronic pain associated with his scoliosis in his spine has simply disappeared!
Like Trey, students share how chronic pain feels in their body and how it has impacted their daily living. They also share the immense impact the GYROTONIC® method has had on their life. Not only has GYROTONIC® improved their physical state, it has helped to improve their relationships, career, and social life. For this, they are truly grateful, because living with chronic pain is no way to live.
If you are someone dealing with chronic pain, we believe the GYROTONIC® Method can help. We will also meet you wherever you are, with your unique body and background. Our knowledgeable, intuitive, and experienced instructors at Kinetic MKE can create a program for you that is deeply healing and transformational.
