 Kinetic MKE is Milwaukee’s official Peak Pilates® Education Center. We proudly offer Comprehensive Pilates Certification, and Pilates Mat Certification options.

-Comprehensive Certification-

The Peak Pilates® Comprehensive Certification is a three-level modular program that is designed to deliver the highest quality authentic Pilates education. It is the foundational level of Pilates professional education which covers the mat, reformer, tower, chairs, barrels and auxiliary equipment. The Comprehensive Certification is a classical Pilates education program distinguished by an emphasis on Pilates as an integrated movement system as Joseph Pilates intended. 

Our three-level modular pathway to the Peak Pilates® Comprehensive Certification allows you to progress at your own pace. Each level is comprised of specific modules, generally scheduled from Friday evening through Sunday. Students may earn a certification at each level by attending all modules, successfully completing assessments and submitting logged hours. To earn the Peak Pilates® Full Comprehensive Certification, you must complete all program levels and logged hours, and receive passing scores on all assessments.

The Peak Pilates Full Comprehensive Certification pathway culminates in a 500 hour certification.

Comprehensive Certification Level I (200 Hours & 4 Modules)


Level I is comprised of 4 modules and each module builds upon the knowledge and skills learned in the prior module and culminate in a Level I Peak Pilates Comprehensive Certification.

Module 1: The Foundation (20 hours) introduces students to the Pilates principles, fundamentals and the “Powerhouse”, and the Peak Pilates® 5-Part Formula. Lessons focus on introductory mat work and building blocks. 

Module 2: Introduction to the Apparatus (20 hours) Students progress to lessons on the reformer, small barrel and high ladder barrel, and learn about transitions, cueing and touch techniques. 

Module 3: Beginner/Intermediate Level Apparatus (20 hours) Module 3 adds Pilates low chair exercises, intermediate level reformer and ladder barrel exercises. More advanced teaching concepts include identifying common errors and proper body alignment, and structuring a Pilates session. 

Module 4: Teaching, Technique and Assessments (20 hours) Students complete the remaining high ladder barrel exercises, practice teach, and review all exercises. Assessments are completed on the final day. A Peak Pilates® Level I Certification is awarded to instructors who pass all Level I assessments and complete 120 logged hours.

Prerequisites: 

Knowledge of basic human anatomy and kinesiology, 20 hours of Pilates training and current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications recommended.

Requirements and Certification:

Attendance in all sessions of each module; homework assignments; successful completion of written and practical assessments; and completion of 120 logged hours: 25 observation hours, 60 personal practice hours and 35 teaching hours. Upon completion of all requirements, a Level I Peak Pilates Certification will be awarded, which allows the teacher to teach safe and effective beginner to intermediate workouts to healthy individuals.

Comprehensive Certification Level II (200 Hours & 2 Modules)


Level II comprises 2 modules and continues to build upon the information and skills acquired in Level I.

Module 1: Intermediate Level Mat, Reformer, Cadillac (20 hours) Students learn additional intermediate level exercises, refine transitions, and how to monitor static and transitional body alignment. 

Module 2: Intermediate Chair and Barrels, Teaching Technique and Assessments (20 hours) Module 2 continues progressing through intermediate Pilates exercises and builds upon the skills learned in Level I. Assessments are completed on the final day A Peak Pilates® Level II Certification is awarded to instructors who pass all Level II assessments and complete 60 logged hours.

Prerequisites: 

Successful completion of Level I requirements, 100 logged hours (60 personal practice/observation hours, 40 teaching hours) and current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications recommended. 

Requirements and Certification:


Attendance in all sessions of each module; homework assignments; successful completion of written and practical assessments; and completion of 60 logged hours: 20 observation hours, 20 personal practice hours and 20 teaching hours. Upon completion of all requirements, a Level II Peak Pilates Certification will be awarded.

Comprehensive Certification Level III (100 Hours & 3 Modules)


Level III is comprised of 3 modules, teaches advanced concepts, practices and exercises, and culminates in the Final Comprehensive Assessment.

Module 1: Advanced Level Mat, Reformer, Cadillac (20 hours) This module completes the lessons on advanced level mat, reformer and cadillac exercises, teaching transitions and techniques. 

Module 2: Advanced Level Chair, Barrels, Auxiliary Equipment (20 hours) This module completes advanced level exercises with auxiliary equipment and jump board. Students also review case studies, which illustrate the application and value of a classical Pilates program. 

Module 3: Final Comprehensive Assessment (6 hours) This one-day assessment comprises the final Comprehensive Certification assessments including written and practical assessments. A Peak Pilates® Full Comprehensive Certification is awarded to instructors who pass all Level III assessments and complete 60 logged hours.

Prerequisites: 

Successful completion of Levels I and II requirements and current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications recommended.

Requirements and Certification:

Attendance in all sessions of each module; homework assignments; completion of 60 logged hours: 20 observation hours, 20 personal practice hours and 20 teaching hours. Upon completion of these requirements, as well as achieving passing scores on the final comprehensive assessments, a Full Comprehensive Peak Pilates Certification will be awarded.

-Mat Certification-

The Peak Pilates® Mat Certification program provides a solid foundation in classical Pilates mat work and prepares you to safely and successfully instruct Pilates mat classes. Our classical Mat Certification is a progressive and systematic three-part series that allows you to complete each level of the program at your own pace. You must complete each of the three levels in order: Basic, Intermediate and then Advanced Mat.

Basic Mat Course

Time: Two Days (17.5 hours)

The Basic Mat course introduces foundational Pilates mat exercises and progressive modifications to accommodate a range of Pilates clients. The course also presents the Peak Pilates® 5 Part Formula for Success—a framework to help you master the art and science of classical Pilates. There are no prerequisites for the course, but previous exposure to classical mat Pilates is recommended. The Peak Pilates® Basic Mat course is open to health and fitness professionals as well as individuals who would like to advance their personal Pilates practice. A Peak Pilates® Basic Mat Certificate is issued to instructors who pass all assessments and submit the required logged hours.

Intermediate Mat Course

Time: Two Days (17 hours)

The Intermediate Mat course introduces new vocabulary and exercises, and includes a more in-depth discussion of the Pilates principles behind exercise order and progression. Key teaching concepts presented during the course expand on techniques for effective instruction, including imagery cues, effective touch techniques and correcting, and contraindications for exercises. Attendees must have completed the Peak Pilates® Basic Mat Course before enrolling and we recommend current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. A Peak Pilates®Intermediate Mat Certificate is issued to instructors who pass all assessments and submit the required logged hours.

Advanced Mat Course

Time: Two Days (18 hours)

The final course of the Peak Pilates® Mat Program, the Advanced Mat course builds upon the classical Pilates foundation established in the Peak Pilates®Basic and Intermediate Mat courses. The Advanced Mat course breaks down the foundational exercises and teaches advanced movements for experienced students as well as progressions and modifications for special populations. We continue refining touch techniques and effective integration of imagery, and developing an eye to see subtle alignment issues. A Peak Pilates® Advanced Mat Certificate is issued to instructors who pass all assessments and submit the required logged hours.
